Laid-back Fishing in Tenerife

Other Sporting Activities to Enjoy

Sports enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with the great selection of sporting activities available.  If you are looking for a round of golf during your holiday, then you have come to the right place.  Tenerife has around seven golf courses to choose from, many of which are located in the south within easy reach of the main resorts.

Water sports are in abundance and can be found on many of the beaches.  Choose from pedalo’s, jetski, parascending, banana boat rides and the jet blaster.

There’s no shortage of diving centres to choose from whether you're an experienced diver or a beginner.  Bob diving is unique to Tenerife and an excellent introduction to the underwater world.  No experience is necessary, just a few minutes of instructions and you are on your way to an unforgettable journey of discovery.  Wind surfers can ride the waves in Las Galletas and El Medano.

For those of you who like to stay on dry land you can opt for a game of tennis, crazy golf or why not try the quad safari located in La Camella only a few minutes away from Los Cristianos, or go-karting in Las Americas.  Horse riding and pony trekking is also high on the list of popular Tenerife sporting activities.  If you want to keep up your fitness regime while on holiday, there are plenty of Gymnasiums to choose from, many of which have thermal spa and massage facilities.

Walking or hiking in Tenerife is must for nature lovers.  Organised walks are available or you can get a taxi to the Barranco del Infierno at the top of the old village of Adeje.  The walk is approximately a 6km round trip and of medium difficulty, however the views are spectacular and you’ll discover many species of flora and fauna along the way.  There is a small charge of 3€ per person and walkers are restricted to around 200 per day, so book your place the day before.

Cycling is another great way to get around the island and discover beautiful scenery, flora and fauna and the little towns and villages off the beaten track that are untouched by tourism.  A word of warning though, Tenerife is very hilly so a good level of fitness is required if you intend to venture inland.  Take sun block, plenty of drinking water and something to eat.

Paragliding is also a great sporting activity in Tenerife and a great way of seeing the island from a birds eye view.  If you have never tried it before, but want to experience it, don’t worry, you can ride tandem with a qualified paraglider.

All these activities plus many others are available on the island and can be booked through any of the excursion kiosks along the beach front or at your hotel reception.
